Vesper Flame Diffuser - $52.99
1800K, warm and low — the colour of a real flame rather than a warm-white bulb. Turn the metal base to dim it, with no steps and no clicks. It runs cordless on its own battery and charges over USB-C, so it moves from the table to wherever you are sitting.
What 1800K actually looks like
A candle burns at about 1800K. A warm-white bulb, the kind most people call cosy, is 2700K. The gap between those two numbers is the whole reason this lamp exists: at 2700K a room still reads as lit, and at 1800K it reads as evening.
Which also means this is not a lamp you can read by, and it isn't trying to be. At full brightness it gives roughly what a single candle gives — enough to see the room and each other, not enough for a book.
Turning it down
The whole metal base rotates. There are no brightness steps and no click at either end — it slides from one percent up to full and back, and it stays where you leave it. Two modes: a constant light, and a slow breathing flicker that moves the way a flame does without pretending to be one.
How long it runs
Nine and a half hours at full brightness, which is more than one evening. Turned right down to the low glow most people actually use it at, up to a hundred hours — you will forget it needs charging before it does. A 2500 mAh battery inside, USB-C when it runs out.
Where it goes
It has no cord in use, so it isn't tied to a socket. Dinner, then the windowsill, then the bedside table. Everything is set on the lamp itself — there is no app, no account and no Bluetooth to pair.

Questions people ask first
How long does it last on a charge?
Nine and a half hours at full. At the low setting it is rated up to a hundred hours, so in ordinary use you are charging it every few weeks rather than every night.
Can I read by it?
No. At 1800K and this output it is ambient light — about one candle's worth. It lights a room enough to move around in and sit in. For a book you will want something else in the room as well.
Is the shade really glass?
Yes — glass shade, brushed metal base. It weighs 410 g, which is part of why the base turns as smoothly as it does, and also why it is worth not leaving it near the edge of a table.
Does it flicker like a real candle?
There are two modes. Constant is a steady, even light. The second is a slow breathing flicker — it rises and falls over a few seconds rather than guttering. It reads as a flame across a room; up close it reads as a good imitation of one, which is the honest answer.
